Minimum Guitar Requirements

At Miller Guitar Academy we want our students to have the best experience
possible in their guitar studies. A guitar that gets in the way of the learning
process in any way diminishes the experience. Therefore we expect our students
guitars to be of a reasonable quality from the beginning. We do not expect our students to spend an inappropriate amount on a guitar for their level of playing. We do expect our students guitars to meet the following minimum requirements. We keep a good selection of guitars at reasonable prices for purchase or rent.

1. Each guitar must be a standard six string. No specialty guitars such as a dobros
or twelve strings.

2. Children up to age 13 must have a nylon string classic guitar of the appropriate size for their age and size. Most steel string guitars cannot be converted to nylon strings.

3. Teens and Adults must have an acoustic (non-electric) six string. We recommend a nylon string, but a good steel string is O.K.

4. All guitars must tune properly, play easily and have a reasonably good tone.

5. If any guitar does not meet these requirements the student must make
arrangements to find the appropriate instrument.

6. After a student begins lessons and the guitar they have proves to be
problematic, they must acquire a more suitable one.

We will do everything possible to make a guitar available on terms and prices that are affordable.
